Popcorn Maker Help?

I have a stovetop “back to basics” brand popcorn maker and I dont have any idea what im supposed to put in it on the stovetop besides the kernels of course.

    You need to have some kind of fat or oil to heat the corn instead of burning it. Canola or good quality vegetable oil is best, but some people use butter. Start with a single kernel, heat the oil. When it pops, the oil is hot enough. Put the rest (not more than a half cup or so, depending on how big the popper pan is) and cover, shake the pan back and forth until the popping slows down, empty into a bowl quickly to avoid burning the corn. Try some varieties as given below.

    I have a concession stand trailer, and I always mix the kernels and a certain kind of butter in the heat part. so, I would assume if you have the butter, then mix the kernels with butter in the pot
